Eid
al-Adha also known as
"Festival of Sacrifice" or "Greater
Eid" is an important religious
holiday celebrated by Muslims
worldwide on 10th of Zil-Hajj every
year. During the celebration of Eid
al-Adha, Muslims commemorate and
remember Abraham's trials, by
themselves slaughtering an animal
(such as goat or sheep). The meat
from the sacrifice of Eid al-Adha is
mostly given away to others. The act
symbolizes our willingness to give
up things that are of benefit to us
or close to our hearts, in order to
follow Allah's commands. It also
symbolizes our willingness to give
up some of our own bounties, in
order to strengthen ties of
friendship and help those who are in
need.
Since 2004, Tameer-e-Millat
Foundation (TMF) arranges Qurbani on
behalf of donors and the meat and
skin thus obtained is used to cater
the food requirements of poor and
orphan students. TMF appeals
everyone to donate their Qurbani for
supporting the flood affected
deserving students, earthquake
affectees and internally displaced
children studying at
Tameer-e-Millat City of Education. |
