On
8th October, 2005 an
earthquake with
record 7.6
magnitude, hit the
Himalayan region of
Northern Pakistan,
especially the
Kashmir region.
Hundreds of
causalities were
reported in North
Muzzafarabad,
Kashmir and Hazara
division. Many
buildings and houses
collapsed in the
cities and rural
areas. The massive
calamity killed
about
80,000 people,
leaving 3,500,000
homeless. Most of
students were
attending schools
when the earthquake
struck. In a report,
some 8000 schools
were demolished
completely, leaving
many students buried
under rubble.
In this devastating
period when every
human heart was
pondering over to
help the effected
people, TMF also
took the initiative.
Tameer-e-Jannat
Science School was
established for
rehabilitating these
traumatized,
orphaned and shelter
less children.
Being a complete
educational and
residential
facility, the school
hostel block
consists of 34 rooms
with allied
facilities of
dining, messing,
laundry, etc. At
present there are
183 residential
students enrolled at
Tameer-e-Jannat
Science School.
Our aim is to
provide quality
education to these
children. We will
facilitate higher
studies, impart
technical trainings
and develop them
into professionally
sound individuals
that will help them
in serving their
families as well as
country in the days
to come.
Sheikh Muhammad
Ahsan, a textile
industrialist and a
group of esteemed
philanthropists from
Faisalabad have
pledged sponsorship
for 100 children.
The team is also
playing a vital role
in motivating local
business community
to sponsor more
children at
Tameer-e-Jannat.
